The Linux Foundation Akraino community will conduct a workshop on Wednesday, September 15 (Local time, GMT+2) online.
Registration Link: TBD
On September 15, 2021 (Local time, GMT+2) Akraino community will participate in a partner event on line.
Launched in 2018, and now part of the LF Edge umbrella, Akraino is creating an open-source software stack that supports a high-availability cloud stack optimized for edge computing systems and applications. Designed to improve the state of edge cloud infrastructure for enterprise edge, OTT edge, and carrier edge networks, it offers users new levels of flexibility to scale edge cloud services quickly, to maximize the applications and functions supported at the edge, and to help ensure the reliability of systems that must be up at all times. The Akraino Edge Stack blueprints use several upstream open-source projects such as ORAN Alliance, CNCF, Openstack, ONF, ONAP, TIP and the community works with open-source communities to enhance any missing edge functionality.
This workshop will provide an overview
of Akrainoof leading use cases of Edge computing systems and applications in Africa with a focus on
engaging service providers and enterprises in India so they can leverage Akraino blueprints for deploying edge computing solutions for their use cases of interest. Led by experienced architects, designers and academicsV2X, IoT and Enterprise Edge solutions.
With key presentations from leading African infrastructure stakeholders, this workshop will provide a unique opportunity to
learn best practices and acquire needed skills in edge computing space. Besides providing comprehensive coverage of topics in edge computinggain unique insights on current infrastructure solutions across the African continent as well as specific technology approaches for the fastest growing industry verticals. In addition to providing detailed coverage of topics related to the current state of Edge computing on the African continent, there will be an opportunity for peer networking to connect with fellow professionals and expert industry practitioners
from industry.
There is no cost to attend the event and we encourage everyone interested in edge computing infrastructure and related opportunities in Africa to attend.

Each research program is led by one of the experienced and talented program directors (PDs) who are responsible for end-to-end focused research and development, facilitating coordination among government, industry, and academic entities. These directors have been charged with guiding their projects from basic research to practical application and commercialization, and ultimately to a clear exit strategy. Bio: Dr. Saso joined Fujitsu in 1976. He became Corporate Senior Vice President in 2009 and was promoted to Corporate Executive Vice President in 2010, in charge of Fujitsu’s ICT Business. He then was nominated as Corporate Senior Executive Vice President and Representative Director, CTO & CMO in 2012. Provide a BSP or SDK for the operating system layer to call, and then encapsulate a PaaS layer to share. But computing network convergence devices are not the same, through the EdgeFAAS to the edge computing network fusion capabilities are open. We've used SONiC. Such converged computing devices will be deployed in large numbers in industrial parks, small data centers and home gateways. It has the ability of network access convergence and computing power scheduling. EdgeFAAS opens up the ability to edge scenarios. Bio: Tina Tsouis an Enterprise Architect at Arm, where she is responsible for designing and implementing robust strategies to establish first tier status for Arm architecture within open-source communities and projects. In this role, Tina employs a comprehensive knowledge of relevant NFV/SDN collaborative open-source initiatives, open-source development tools, processes, build systems, packaging, continuous integration, and test methodologies. Recognized as a thought leader, she forges powerful partnerships with open-source communities in support of multiple architectures, while prioritizing requirements for open-source enablement in collaboration with Arm key stakeholders and relevant ecosystem partners. Tina also drives and empowers Arm’s Edge Computing Team. Currently, Tina is Chair of the Technical Steering Committee for Akraino. Prior to joining Arm, Tina excelled as the Digital Domain Expert for Connectivity at Philips Lighting, where she championed the company’s first NB-IoT solution, and facilitated the company’s transition from conventional lighting to LED and digital lighting technology. Additionally, she was employed by Huawei for 16 years in Technical Lead and Principal Engineer roles, where she led network architecture design, new product definition, product marketing strategy, and technology research—and developed the company’s first IPv6 network migration professional service product.
